ThermaBead Bonded Bead System

Cavity wall insulation fills the air space between the interior and exterior walls of a property to help reduce the amount of energy passing through the wall. It regulates the temperature in a property, meaning homes will be warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer.

The ThermaBead system is a grey bonded-bead system that is pressure blown into the cavity by a specially designed injection gun. The material acts like a tea cosy, trapping the heat and keeping dwellings cosy and warm. The special material settles into the cavity leaving very little space between beads, which, coupled with a unique manufacturing method, means an optimum level of heat is being bounced back into the property.

ThermaBead utilises a specially manufactured grade of closed cell polystyrene beads, in the size range of 2mm – 9mm in diameter. The target mean density of the beads is in the range of 12 +/- 2 kgm3. The ThermaBead bonding agent is a water-based dispersion of acrylic co-polymer emulsion, white in appearance and is non-hazardous.

The beads have been thoroughly tested and will not deteriorate over time; they will also not be unduly affected by any improvement works such as fitting new double glazing. Fully fire resistant and with full BBA approval for use in even the most extreme of conditions, ThermaBead fully satisfies the latest exacting standards for energy efficiency.

Key Features & Benefits

-  Reduces heat loss rates by around 70%

-   Cost effective – Average unsubsidised payback is under 4 years

-  Installed in a couple of hours with minimal disruption

-  BBA approved

-  Lasts as long as the building

Thermabead Carbon Saver & Thermabead Diamond

The Thermabead bonded bead system comes with two options, Carbon Saver and Diamond. Both offer excellent thermal properties but due to Diamond's unique shape and additional manufacturing processes, it is the premium choice and gives unbeatable results in terms of improving energy efficiency.

Thermaflow Heated Cable

The Thermaflow self-regulating heated line has been developed to eliminate the problems that may occur when installing ThermaBead at very low temperatures, with the support of a major cable manufacturer and two years of trials.

Thermaflow is a 110v self - regulating site safe heated line, it incorporates a thermally conductive core which at temperatures below 5˚C allows current to flow and the cable warms.

Thermaflow heated line can be supplied in 30m and 45m lengths with longer lengths available on request. Supplied as a ready to assemble kit with instructions on how to put it together. We recommend that it is assembled and tested by a qualified electrician.

Once assembled we would suggest that the adhesive line and the airline are run together through a separate length of 38mm hose such as used for bead transfer from the vehicle. This insulates and protects the Thermaflow line and ensures that the heat is retained where it is needed, any additional length can be wrapped around the adhesive pressure vessel to provide additional warmth at source.

Thermascopic Bead Lance

In order to install cavity wall insulation effectively and in accordance with regulations, a fixed drill pattern around the building must be adopted. However, sometimes it is found that the standard injection pattern cannot be achieved around the outside of the property. This can be caused by, but is not restricted to, the following possibilities:

- Conservatories, sheds or car ports which are attached to the building being insulated
- An extension has been added turning an external wall into an internal wall
- Uneven ground outside the building that affects the safe use of ladders
- Risk of damage to the brickwork

Overcoming these issues could prove to be very costly, and until now they may have required scaffolding or drilling the walls from the inside of the building.

The Thermascopic Bead Lance removes the need for any of the intrusive and disruptive methods above. The lance can be easily extended from 1 metre to 6 metres in length and is inserted along the inside of a cavity through a series of drill holes down the side of the property. Use of the lance eliminates the need for drill holes on the face of the wall and the use of expensive access equipment.

- Eliminates the needs for scaffolding, or other expensive access equipment
- Whole house solution which vastly improves access requirements
- No drill holes required on the face of the wall
- Minimal disruption to property and occupants
- Suitable for use in almost all property types
- Fills up to 7.3m (14.6m from each end)
- Allows for a complete cavity fill by drilling only the end of the wall
- 25 year guarantee

Therm Extract Cavity Clearance

Most houses built in the UK since 1930 have been built with a cavity wall: a wall formed from two thicknesses of masonry with an air space between them, which are held together with wall ties. The air space ensures that any water which may enter the cavity simply drains down to the footings below the damp proof course, without crossing to the inner wall.

However, keeping a home built with cavity walls free from damp depends on the air space remaining almost entirely free from blockages. Obstructions between the two walls can form a bridge and allow moisture to penetrate through to the interior of the house. This moisture penetration can lead to damp and mould problems, if left untreated. Although it is essential that these obstructions are identified and removed, it is a process which has historically been difficult, lengthy and expensive. ThermExtract is a simple solution.

Obstructions can offer for many reasons:

1. The cavity not being cleared correctly when the house was constructed
2. Having building work carried out on the house, such as replacing windows or fitting a conservatory
3. During general improvement and repairs on the house, such as fitting a balanced flue boiler system or a vent

Key features & benefits

- Whole house solution, or partial cavity cleaning available
-  Resolves existing damp transference issues
-  Suitable for use on almost all cavity constructed properties
- Ensures walls are clear of debris, ready to be insulated if required
- No maintenance necessary
- The process employs traditional building industry working practices and equipment, combined with specifically designed technology

Loft Insulation

Up to 25% of the heat generated in an average home can be lost through your loft space if it is not properly insulated. Loft insulation works like the lid to a cosy tea pot. Instead of the heat escaping though the roof it remains inside, making it much warmer and more comfortable.

Loft insulation also makes your home more cost effective to heat, as it decreases the demand on your heating system. Less energy is required after loft insulation is installed to reach the same temperatures as before.
