Installing Cavity Wall Insulation In Your Home

More heat is lost through the walls of your home than in any other way. Maintaining the heat inside your home keeps you warm and cosy when you need to be. It also works in reverse by keeping your house cooler in the summer months.

Installing cavity wall insulation in your home will not only help to decrease your heating bills by saving energy lost through the walls, it will also help to reduce your carbon footprint by limiting the amount of CO² and other greenhouse gases emitted from your property.

Many houses since the late 1930s were built with a cavity between the inner and outer walls. Due to this cavity, many of Britain’s homes have thermal performances which are well below the standards required by current building regulations, with unacceptably high levels of heat and energy loss through the walls.

ThermaBead Ltd are approved installers of various types of cavity wall insulation systems, and can offer specific advice on which system will best suit the property in question. All work is carefully monitored to ensure that the best standards are achieved and technical regulations are being adhered to.

How To Identify If Your House Has A Cavity

If your home has cavity walls, the bricks will usually have an even pattern with all the bricks laid lengthways. If your home has solid walls, the bricks will have an alternating pattern, with some bricks laid across the wall so you can see the smaller ends from the outside.

Quick, Fuss-Free Installation

ThermaBead’s installation process is designed to be as hassle free as possible.

It takes just a few hours for the average property to have cavity wall insulation installed, and it is injected into the walls from the outside meaning no mess inside your home. There may be some minimal dust and debris created outside during the work, this will all be cleared away by our installation team so you will hardly know we've been there.

The Installation Process

  1. Installation of the insulation only commences, once the site is prepared and safe.

  2. The technicians carry out a further pre-evaluation risk assessment, which takes into account all design and suitability considerations.

  3. All loose items are removed and temporarily stored away from the wall surface. Any adjacent plant growth is either restrained or cut back to clear the working area, if necessary.

  4. The drilling will create some vibration in the walls. To avoid breakages you should remove any ornaments and other breakable objects, such as clocks or pictures, which are hanging on the inside of the external walls or are on the window sills.

  5. The drilling will also create some dust outside your home. Whilst every effort is made to completely clean up before the installation crew leave, a small residual of dust may remain. Your windows should be closed before work commences.

  6. Each elevation of the property has small holes carefully drilled out in compliance with our product certification.

  7. ThermaBead Carbon Saver is blown by a long hose from one our specially equipped vans through the holes into each of the property’s elevations.

  8. Once all walls have been treated, the holes are filled and the site is cleaned. All previously removed items are replaced.

  9. Final inspection of the site is completed with you before the job is signed off. You are encouraged to walk around the exterior of the property before and after the installation to ensure you’re completely satisfied before the installation team begin the work and before they leave the property.

  10. You enjoy a warmer, cosier, less expensive home to heat!

Loft Insulation

Up to 25% of the heat generated in an average home can be lost through your loft space if it is not properly insulated. Loft insulation works like the lid to a cosy tea pot. Instead of the heat escaping though the roof it remains inside, making it much warmer and more comfortable.

Loft insulation also makes your home more cost effective to heat, as it decreases the demand on your heating system. Less energy is required after loft insulation is installed to reach the same temperatures as before.
